More Than a Game

Think and share or write about a time when you were able to help someone through being a servant for Christ. Now write or share a time when a follower of Christ showed you Christ through serving you.
The beauty of Christ and his time here on earth was that instead of just telling us how to live he came and lived amongst us and showed us how to live for God. In Matthew 20:28 Jesus tells us he has come to serve others and not to be served. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords took on the role of teacher and servant. As a matter of fact his greatest teachings where when he served.
Jesus also understood that helping others serve expanded their ability to connect with God and understood many times serving others opened doors to sharing the good news. We see this all to well in Luke 9:1-17.
Jesus sends out his followers to spread the good news and as they return from their journeys this great hands on lesson is learned. Jesus allowed the apostles to be a part of serving the masses. He turned to them for a solution to the hunger problem and when they could not see the big picture he worked with them through serving others. He was not disappointed in them for not understanding how to serve but took them by the hand and helped them to serve. He helped them experience something bigger than themselves and that is the heart of serving others. The ability to do for more than ourselves and experience the wonder of Jesus through helping others experience Christ.
Once again the question has to be asked who benefited the most? Was it the thousands who were fed and cared for, was it the boy who’s lunch was used, or could it have been the apostles?
What are some ideas that you can come up with on how you can help others experience Christ through the acts of serving others? Who do you know that benefit from you taking them along to a service activity?
